BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Drax, a renewable energy company, announced a $250,000 commitment to create the Gloster Community Fund on Tuesday, April 23.

According to a news release, Drax’s latest commitment will finance supplementary educational and community efforts in Gloster, Mississippi. The Gloster Community Fund will focus on enhancing the quality of life and assisting grassroots activities in Gloster, where Drax operates.

“Our continued investment in Gloster aligns with our core values of sustainability and community engagement,” said Matt White, Drax executive vice president of North America. “This latest investment is a direct result of working with community members where we operate, and it represents Drax’s ongoing commitment to listening to the concerns and desires of the people to take steps to respond.”

According to the news release, some of Drax’s latest commitments to residents in Gloster also include a community advisory panel, career and job opportunity assistance, a donation of computers, annual town hall meetings, bi-annual focus groups, a new community manager and a Gloster updates webpage.

“I am delighted to see Drax’s continued commitment to our town,” said Jerry Norwood, mayor of Gloster. “It’s not just dollars Drax is donating, but resources and time. Their investment not only boosts our local economy but also underscores Drax’s dedication to our community’s growth and success.”
