AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Appointment of the Rector of the Saint John Baptiste Interdiocesan Seminary in Fianarantsoa

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On November 15, 2017, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev . Desiré Razafinirina, of the diocesan clergy of Toliara, as Rector of the "Saint John Baptiste" Interdiocesan Seminary in the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa.
The new Rector was born on May 5, 1975 in Manombo south, Toliara district. After his primary and secondary studies, he entered the minor Seminary of Toliara in 1988 and in 1994 he moved to the major Seminary of Fianarantsoa. He was ordained a priest on August 10, 2003 in Manombo south.
He continued his studies in Rome (2007-2010), at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, where he obtained a licentiate in canon law. Among the positions held: educator at the minor Seminary of Toliara, assistant parish priest and pastor. From 2013 he was an educator at the "Saint Jean Baptiste" major Seminary.
